Ryan James Day  was stationed in the 2nd battalion, 75th Ranger regiment in Tacoma Washington when he took his life. Starting in 2017, the Tacoma Yacht Club participates in honoring and remembering him. Due to the proximity between the base at Tacoma, and the yacht club that bears the town's name, many of the soldiers and veterans that attend the event are special forces themselves, and knew or served with Ryan, or as a ranger in the same battalion. This event is unique for SailAhead, it is the only one that takes place outside of New York.
