Steve loved his family, his brothers in arms and the Marine Corps. Steve spent a lifetime in the salt-water. Whether fishing in the Atlantic or swimming at Jones beach, being in the salt with his family was his favorite place in the world. During the summer of 2015, Steve sailed for the first time in his life with SailAhead and instantly fell in love with it. That day on the water with his son, his new friends and fellow vets was a cherished memory.

Milton Blackman

October 22, 1923 ~ March 22, 2016

Milton Blackman was a World War II Veteran, a paratrooper and an infantryman.

Milton was assigned to the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. Deployed to the Battle of the Bulge, he arrived in combat on Christmas Day, 1944. Cloud cover and forest prevented parachuting in, so they arrived on foot. Milton was wounded by an 88 mm shell on January 5, 1945 and was hospitalized for 6 months. He was discharged in 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, European Theater of Operation and World War II Victory Medal. After the war, he returned to his native Brooklyn, NY, married and had two children, Stewart and Sally.

Milton was a most outgoing and gregarious man. Always a smile and a greeting for everyone, he always made everyone feel special.
